Does anyone have any idea what the difference is between the 8 shot and 9 shot Federal low recoil 00 Buckshot round with flite control ? Both have a fps of 1145. What would be the advantage of having that one less pellet ? Tighter groups maybe ?
Less recoil would have been my guess but both have a fps of 1145. Shouldn't the 8 shot version have something less than that if it had lesser recoil ? I have some Hornady 8 shot low recoil ammonfor example and it is 1100 fps
Recoil is a function of many things, but the weight of the projectile(s) is a key factor. Reduce the mass of the projectiles by 11% (go from 9 to 8) and you should reduce recoil commensurately.
If I can find a place that doesn't sell it by the case I'll pick up some of the 8 shot LE1300 and see how it shoots compared to the 9 shot buck I already have now.
