I think violent criminals have proven they cannot be trusted. They should have to prove they can be trusted before they are allowed to have a firearm again. That proof would come in the form of a pardon.

Anyhow, she served 1 year in prison. She is now back out, and the judge has granted her back custody of her 3 children. She has come out a much better person than when she went in, and has her head back on straight.

I have issue with the prison system as well. Of course when you lock someone up and just leave them there they aren't going to come out as better people in the vast majority of cases. Instead of simply punishing everyone, we should actually try to rehabilitate and teach these people about being good citizens instead of hoping they'll spontaneously learn it in prison. Grow up in a poor neighborhood, get picked on, get involved with a gang, and when you want to leave, guess what? Sometimes you can't. And because of that or other circumstances, you should never get the chance to be a better person? I don't think that's right.

If you're going to let him out, it should be only because you can trust him enough to mix with society. If that's not true, what kind of moron would let him out??
