OK, just got off the phone with Classic Arms. The order is in, and it's getting shipped Monday or Tuesday.
1 handpicked Enfield No. 4 MK 1.:neener:

i may be getting a No.1 MkIII.. the TRUE SMLE

glad to hear your getting an Enfield fine guns. kinda mad i passed up one of the .410 conversions a while ago

Enfields rock. I never wanted one, thought they were ugly, until I got one dirt cheap. Now it is a keeper that is very accurate and reliable!
Congrats!

Once you go Brit, everything else is just, ummm, SPIT! :neener: Congrats. :)

Hey AM, what's the rifle count up to now? Your endeavor/cause is coming along nicely. :)

I've got to put up pics of the two SMLEs I still have left - or is it 3? Dang.... 2 are "sporterized" anyhow (to an extent).

You know, I was just looking at their site today and those caught my eye. It would be my 1st Enfield and a nice addition to the collection. Post pics if possible when it arrives. Inquiring minds want to know. :D

I saw those on their site yesterday and was thinking about picking one up. Tonight at the range right before we got packed up the guy next to me broke out an Enfield. I think I might have to pick one up. The last gun I bought isn't even here yet, and I'm already thinking about buying another one.

Check the headspace before you shoot it. Even if the serial number on the bolt handle matches the one on the receiver. You have no idea what has been done to the rifle since it was made.

Too late, I fired it. But no pierced primers , or flattened ones. No evidence I see for excessive headspace.

Premium, this is the one a co-worker wanted to get rid of several years ago, for what he had into it, a pawn deal from a shipmate from 15+ years earlier. So I gave him his $50 for a No4MK1* that looks rough, but the barrel hadn't been fired since it was Factory Total Repair in Faz so many moons ago...

I ALMOST snagged a No2 Indian in 308 at the local pawn shop, been sitting for a looong time, rough wood, dark metal, goooood bore, (sound familiar? :) ), with a high price tag of $350. I was wearing them down over time, and some schmuck just HAD to have a .308....dagnabbit.

Being third generation English American, a Lee Enfield Rifle was naturaly my first choice for my first centre-fire rifle.

Living in Alaska at the time, was an excuse to finally buy one. Found a chopped-up "sporter" 1942 Savage No.4 Mk.I* at a shop in Anchorage for $100. Bought it, then ordered a stock set from Gun Parts Corp. and it looks like it should have back in 1942.

Two years ago I finally got a No.1 Mk.III. This one was made by Birmingham Small Arms and assembled in 1940. I say "assembled" because the action body has the slot for the magazine cut-off, which according to what I have heard was stopped in 1939 when the War started. The date is stamped at different times, the "19" was stamped first then the "40" was stamped later, hard to describe, I'll try for a photo.

Anyway, this rifle was FTR'd in India post independence, which I think was 1947? It has an Indian made barrel installed. I'd love to know which regiment had this rifle first? The 1st Bn. of the Somerset Light Infantry was in India when the War started and fought in Burma, and was the last last regiment to leave India after indepence. I say this because my Dad's family is from Somerset, I would love to find that this rifle served with the Somersets...LOL, it really does not matter...LOL.

I got this rifle in a chopped condition also, and restocked it. I have not fired this one as of yet. I have .303" Mk.VII Cartridges, just living in Toledo, Ohio, there is no where to fire it at...LOL. I miss Alaska...LOL. I'll try for photo soon.
Thanks
Mark
