In another thread about small purchases getting inthe way of what you really want I mentioned a Howa Legacy chambered in .308 Win. I have been lusting after this wee beastie since I started work at the sporting goods store.
It has an ergonomic composite stock that fit me to a "T" and I opened my big mouth saying that it would be mine..... and it is now (thanks to new plastic credit ). Oh well, I put a new Millett Buck Gold 3.5 X 10 X 50 on it (at $65 my price how could it go wrong).
I took it to one of my fav gunsmiths and he tweeked the trigger ( a bit of creep & travel was taken out) to 2.5- 3 lbs. Off to the range and initial sight in at the 25 yard then to the 100 yard range.
The first shot at one hundred yards hit one inch high into the nine ring and it settled into a 5 shot 1 1/2" group . A little more tweeking and the last group of the day was a warm barrel 3 shot that measured 3/4". It shoots better than I can hold it.
No pics of the targets (deer hunter sight-in day at the range, long wait to change targets by staff only), but here is a pic of the rifle.
