Well, folks, some of you may have read my previous post about a friend who had a CZ83. I shot it, liked it so much, that I purchased one yesterday New in box for $329.00 with 2 mags.
Now I have some questions. What accessories are available for the CZ83?
I had to drift the rear sight with a brass hammer in order to get things lined up. I have also had to do this from time to time on my CZ75 in .40 caliber. Is this normal, and is there anyway to "lock" the rear sight in place, so that it won't move, once I have sighted it in?
Any favorite holsters, rounds, etc.?
Does anyone have any favorite hand loads? I already have ~150 pieces of brass, and am anxious to find some good components and work up a range load. Any help and advice is GREATLY appreciated, thanks so much in advance!

For a really good holster, check out

Once I had my sights adjusted, they have stayed put for years.

As for holsters, I'm sure HBE makes great stuff, but I've been pretty satisfied with mine from Makarov.com. It's an IWB for $35 made by Falco (not Galco, Falco), but is very sturdy. I cut off the thumb break, but other than that, it's a great holster.

I usually shoot CCI Blazer in mine with good results. I find it odd that you had to move the rear sight at all. Mine was sighted in from the factory. The sights are a pretty tight fit; they shouldn't move around at all. You may need to send it back to the mothership.

If the sights continue to move in the dovetail, you may have to send the gun back for repair, but you can try this trick beforehand. Get some "blue" Loctite and using a heat gun or your wife's hair dryer, heat the slide and sight so the parts expand, then but a drop of Loctite on the side the sight moves toward and let it soak in by capallary action. Let it cure for 24 hours, do this only after you're sure the sight is in the right location!

This worked for me when I had problems with the rear sight of my CZ 100 coming loose: remove the rear sight, then take a center punch and put a couple of dimples in the bottom of the dovetail on the slide. The metal around the dimple will rise slightly. Remount the rear sight. If it is not secure enough, put a few more dimples in the dovetail. Works like a charm!

There's a thread over in the Reloading forum discussing this very topic.
