First range trip with the Howa 1500

The area I hunt in is wide open. If someone were skilled enough an unobstructed 1000 yard shot on a deer is possible. Most of my shots last year were withing 200 yards because of the traveling habits of the deer into and out of that field. As far as reloading goes, I could reload using all of my grandfather-in-laws equipment. But, if I had time for that I would have bought a 7mm-08. Maybe someday I can get into it, I am saving all of my brass just in case. The trigger feels pretty good to me, heck it surprised me by going off without as much effort as I expected. Ammo around here is scarce, so I will have to order some off the net.

Finally if you really concern about accuracy from you rifle, contact Legacy Sports, you rifle is under warranty let them check it, there are specs which Howa made by, and if it shoots below them, I would request Howa to fix it. I did it with my Howa, I send it back to them where I was told my barrel rifling are faulty or missing, they will offer you to fix it, it may take few month before you going to see it again, their turn around time was terrible.

Well I am not going to send the rifle back just yet. I know that I am moving the rifle when I fire off a round and at the least that will move my shots a few inches at 100 yards. I anticipate recoil still and I am working on my breathing while shooting.
