I know this is the hunting forum, but I figure a lot of you guys probably fish as well. So here's my question, as stupid as it may be......I just bought a spinning reel and rod combo, and I can't for the life of me figure how to line it. I mean, I had line put on at the shop, but how the hell do you line it through the pulley looking thing on the bail??? I haven't fished since I was like 10, about 13 years ago and even then, it was the pushbutton reel. I tried just looping it around it, but that doesn't work. I hope you can tell when I'm talking about and asking, I don't know all the terms for the parts.

P.S.
Yes, I googled this before posting here, but all I found was how get the line onto the reel, which I already had done at the shop.

Push the bail back out of the way. It will stay in that position.

Pull the line straight forward off the reel, being careful not to unravel too much of it. Put it through the first few loops of the rod.

Drop the bail. The line should be threaded properly.

???

i'm guessing that you mean how do you get the line from the "spool" and out the rod eyes so that the reel works properly?

if the line is on the reel but not though the bail then you need to open the bail, grab the "wire" looking bail and open it by pulling it in an arc over the spool it should latch into the open position. now take the free end and feed the line through the rod eyes. now turn the handle or manually close the bail and it should "retrieve the line back on the spool.:)

Thanks for the quick replies!! Now seeing how easy it is, I feel REALLY stupid, lol. Thanks again.
