Everyone needs a kukri, right?

So after successfully refstraining myself from ordering
from Himalayan Imports, .... i came upon this one on my doorstep.

There was a little filipino with a tiny table at my local fleamarket.
By his looks and the items, and considering Hamburg is germany`s main harbor,
i think he was a sailor.

Seeing the sheathed Kukri my alarm bells went off. Normally u only see
tourist trash some hippies brought back from their trip to India.

But the bone handle got me curious. By the time i had the blade out i had to control myself to not lose the pokerface.

When asked for a price, both german and english were really bad, he said 35 euros. I quickly said "25?"

... and he said okay :D

Blade is well made, well shaped and really sharp.
Balance is nice, grip is good. What`s not to like?

Nice looking knife. I wonder how old it is? It has been kept indoors as the bone still looks great. What coins on the sheath?

Great find! Looks better than the one I got many years ago. Nice looking handle and sheath too.

Until tested for hardness the assumption should be that it is a wall hanger instead of a user.

So far the use of a wetstone gives me the impression that
material and the hardness are good enuff.

Will put a file to it on the weekend.

Files bite into soft steel but skate across hardened steel with light pressure. There are even sets of test files to estimate hardness range.
