I just built myself a small workshop and a place to put all my tools and gunsmithing equipment. Now I'm ready to build something.

I just finished reading a black powder book by George C Nonte and it's given me the idea to try my hand at a flintlock pistol kit.

Back in the 80's I purchased a percussion kit for about $75 and it seemed to be decent quality but I don't see much these days regarding flint guns.

Can anyone recommend a decent quality kit? I've seen a couple online but for $300 I could buy myself a professionaly finished one.

If I have to spend that amount to get high quality components I'll do it

Any suggestions?

Kits have different skill levels depending on how much work the parts need to be inletted, fitted and finished.

Traditions and Pedersoli make some level one kits:

Sitting Fox offers some more challenging kits with American made parts:

The more difficult kits from outfits like Track of the Wolf basically involve building from scratch and needing to install the breech plug.

arcticap said it all, I would add DEER CREEK if you want one of the older CVA or Jukar pistols. Deer Creek does not have a web site but when you call they are first class and ship your order faster than most.

If you want a super high quality kit,try a Jim Chambers "kit".These require more skill and labor than the typical kits offered in the past by CVA,Lyman, etc. Not a weekend project, but if you take your time you will wind up with a pistol that will last a lifetime.
