Not sure if I would OC, but signed.

Dismayed to see so many non-voters on there. 1) they should vote, if they actually hope to change anything, and 2) politicians don't give a two figs about anyone that's not possibly voting for them.

Signed and sent to 110 others. From a 27 year retired LEO in South Florida.
Lets get this passed. You would see a DRASTC drop in voilent crime in Florida. I would like to see just how big of a set our elected officels have.

I signed it awhile back, and I sincerely hope it makes a difference, however it detracts from the credibility of the document when the author of said document misspells a word.

I have read the Restoration of the Right to Openly Carry Firearms in Florida Petition to the Honorable Senators and Representatives of the Florida Legislature and the Governer of the State of Florida, and I hereby sign the petition:

Doh! I missed that the first time through. I even got my mother to sign this one, which is pretty impressive. We're up over 1600 signatures.

I have a question. When was the last time a politician recognized an online petition?

Teacher Removed from Class
When a FL teacher had her kindergarten class vote on whether to remove a possibly autistic child from her classroom, Care2 member, Laura, started a petition to vote the teacher out. The petition drew national attention about the issue of autism and resulted in the teacher's reassignment.

Legislation Passed to Allow Wounded Soldier to Adopt Military Dog Another example of where the military was forced to respond to public outcry.

US Fish and Wildlife Service confiscates Polar Bears
Petition drew attention to the poor treatment of polar bears in a Puerto Rico Circus. (see also here)

Should be titled "Restoration of the recognition of the Right to Openly Carry Firearms in Florida".

Anyway, I don't think it will happen. I'm pretty sure they outlawed it in the first place so as to not scare the tourists from NY, NJ etc. Sure would be nice to be able to open carry with the heat here though.

Looks like a lot of the more recent signers are registered voters. I agree though, having someone who's not a registered voter weighing in doesn't necessarily lend us any extra oomph.

I would sign but I do not live in Florida. Considering states to move to and no open carry is heavily weighting the negatives of Florida. May end up in AZ eventually. In any event, passed on to a couple friends in Florida.

Florida Open Carry Event - July 3rd

We're having an Open Carry & Fishing Event in the Daytona Beach Area on Saturday July 3rd. Fitting that it is just before Independence day!

I've coordinated with the local PD and city attorney to make sure that there are no problems, the officers are educated on the law that allows this, and MWAG calls to 911 are treated properly.

RSVP and find more info at: http://www.meetup.com/Florida-Open-Carry/
