Having a tough time deciding between an offer to make.

I have the ability to purchase an Egyptian FN 49 in very good condition for near $900 (not great price, but decent) or a pair of Japanese pistols - Type 94 & Type 14.

My question is regarding collective worth. Is the FN 49 generally more collectible than the Nambus, or vice versa? I've wanted all 3 for a long time, but wasn't expecting the opportunity for all 3 to come at the exact same time.

Tough choice...the FN49 would be a better range gun, but the Nambus are worth more. I think $900 is too high for an Egyptian FN49...I would be looking for something more in the $700 range.

If the Nambus are in good shape they are the better deal. The Nambus sound like a good buy, are more "collectable" in my opinion and are going to hold their value or appreciate in the future. A good type 14 is worth almost that by itself. The FN 49 is at an inflated price and is likely to fall back to the $600-700 dollar range in the future.

Yeah, 900$ is way too high; I've been seeing them go for under 700 on Gunbroker, despite all the nonsense there. The FN49 is a way cooler gun than some crummy Nambus (Nambii?). It's a FAL with a wood battle-rifle stock; what more could you want? I got a screaming deal on my 30-06 Lux rifle, and it is really fun at the range. See if you can line up ammo before plunking down, though.

Yeah, I think that's going to be my problem if I go with the Nambus (Nambii? :) ) I've been perusing various ammo sources online and have yet to find a place for (affordable) 8mm Nambu.

The FN, on the other hand, is in 8x57 for which I have plenty of Turkish surplus laying around. I would agree that $900 sounds high, but I always kick myself for letting opportunities pass that seem ever-so slightly unfavorable at the time.

My worry is that I won't find another pair of Japanese pistols at a price like this for a while.

Turk ammo has too slow a burn rate for a FN-49. You will wreck it. The price is ridiculously high too.

The nambus are a better purchase.
