If I may be so bold as to suggest caution.
the original poster, who joined on Jan 5 2011, with his first post, offers over $300 of goods for $100

The first rule of buying black powder firearms:

Never, ever buy a black powder firearm sight unseen without an iron-clad no-questions-asked return guarantee after a minimum three day inspection period. Never. Ever. Period, end of discussion.

Agree with all the caution statements. I talked with the OP in-depth and he sounds legit. Pretty nice guy, just said he did not need the gun. A friend had told him THR would be a good place to sell the pistol. He said it was obviously a used gun and had some scratches. OK, good winter project.

After receiving the funds, I was contacted by the OP and was told he had mailed it. Sent it insured, and gave me a tracking number.

For a hundred bucks ~ I took a chance. I will post more in a couple of days.

Whats the worst? I bought someone a nice dinner. I get a shadow box gun. or I get a nice shooter.

Happy Camper

The Uberti arrived today. Wow ~ a lot nicer than I expected. In fact it would rate a good 98%+. :)

I had a casual friend walk into my office a couple of years ago and hand me a greasy sock with a lump in it. He said I have had this a long time and I thought you would like to have it.
I unwrapped an 1862 manufactured 1851 Colt.

Here's the Pics

Here's the pics.

Great Deal. Can't wait to see how it shoots.

Congratulations..People get lucky sometimes. I bought a military surplus heater and stove one time in New Orleans and carried it around for a long long time before I decided to make sure it worked one day and there was a .31 Colt inside of the stove. It's in a safety desposit box at the bank. Had to have it covered up and out of sight to comply with the bank rules so I carried it into the bank and back to the room in a sock also. It's still in that sock. I opened the box yesterday while I was in the bank just to make sure it was still greased down good and all. The only other thing in that box is the USMC Kabar I carried and used in 'nam and a 'gook' wrist watch I bought at a little ville right outside of a firebase called Dong Ha..I'm glad to hear some good news on here for a change. Glad you shared it with us. (with me especially)..Good things do happen....
