Like most of you I get irritated with the National Rifle Association now and then, but I still believe they represent our strongest bulwark against those who want to ban our guns. Consequently, this year, and every year, I give some of my gun owning friends an NRA membership for a Christmas present. Hey, it's only twenty bucks and it serves the dual purpose of a gift as well as increasing the NRA's clout by a tiny bit.

At the moment things are going pretty well for gun owners in this country. The best way to insure that this trend continues is to maintain a strong NRA. So consider giving a membership to one or two of your buddies who are not already members.

A handgunish thing in 22LR for Jim. I'm thinking a 22LR Uzi becuase he could use it like a handgun while I could still buy it as a rifle from an FFL.

Owlhoot,

I've always thought that was a great idea. Done it a lot over the years. This year, I have one old friend ( I'm pushing 60, and known him since 6th grade ), that is gonna get a membership. He's the most left leaning guy I know ( and he hates guns ). But I won't let politics ruin a friendship that old. That said, last year he signed me up as a member of MoveOn.Org. And later to something that has me getting emails asking for a couple bucks for a chance to win dinner with the Obamas ( even got a 2012 bumper sticker. Not quite sure what to do with that yet ). So in 2012, he's a member of the NRA:neener:
