Second time out with my new Savage 12FV. First time was just breaking in the barrel and zeroing the scope. After that I found the recoil lug wasn't even touching the stock, so I bedded it along with the area around the action screws. I also floated the barrel and filled the forend with epoxy to stiffen it up.

I shot several 5 shot groups today at 100 meters, with the largest being 1.08 inches. Here's the best - .520 center to center. The load was 25.5 grains of Varget, Remington brass, CCI small rifle primer, and a 60 grain Vmax bullet. I think this gun has potential - what do you think? :D

I'll have to take one later. It's nothing special to look at, just a run of the mil 12FV with factory tupperware stock and a 6-18 Swift scope. I really want one of the laminated stocks from Sharpshooter Supply, but money is tight right now.

Yep :) The potential for those one-hole groups is definitely there. The 12FV in the Sharp Shooter Supply stock will look great once you get there. I have a 12BVSS and plan to bed it in the factory laminated stock.

yep, that is nice shootin

i thought it was a 3 shot group until i looked closer

Nice shooting, they are tack drivers.

I'm running 60 grain V-max, 23.8 Varget and CCI primers out of my Savage Model 11BTH.

And this is what it will look like when you get the SSS LVT stock. Mine is in .243 and regularly shoots in the low-mid .3's with handloads.

try a couple of factory loads; plain ol blue box black hills , regular 55 grainers, and if you can find them-winchester big white box, 45 grain varmints.
Truly, both of these will astound you.

Browningguy - that's the stock I want, but in either black or purple/black. How does it fit you? I'm a fairly tall guy (6'1") with long arms.

+1 BlackHills 55 Grain SP Blue Box.

I am a huge fan of this loading.

two years ago, that black hills 50 round box, sold at Carters' country for 13 bucks a box, and the winny varmints were 10 bucks for 40 rounds, at Academy.

As far as fit it should probably be just about right, I'm average height with a little longer than normal arms and I can snuggle in pretty tight to it. Mine has a 13 3/4" LOP and I think he can cut them a little longer if needed.
