Found my grail gun (PPQ M2)

Okay, it doesn't have an ambidextrous push button, but I handled a PPQ M2 at the LGS today, and I gotta say...I love it! Striker-fired, ambidextrous slide stop (and much better than the one on the M&P), reversible push-button magazine release, and forward slide serrations all make me happy.

Now I know what I'm saving up for.

I took to the paddle mag release no problem, but I get that it's not to everyone's tastes or hand size.

Where the PPQ (in either incarnation) shines is in that marvelously smooth quick-reset trigger and ergos.

I don't know much about gun manufacturing, but if I were Walther, I wouldn't have dropped the 1st gen PPQ in favor of the M2; I would've run both.

But, as I said, I don't know much about gun manufacturing (or perhaps it was a marketing decision?), and that may not have been feasible.

I prefer the paddle version. Had Walther not discontinued that one, I would have bought a second copy and a lot of mags. I recently decided to trade my PPQ for a Glock 19 (Gen 4), and plan on eventually buying two M2s.

Despite mag release grumbles, the trigger and ergonomics are the real magic.

The PPQ is a great choice. I actually prefer the paddles but the M2 is good also.

I'm disappointed that Walther dropped the paddle mag release from the PPQ M2.

I really wanted to get a PPQ that could share mags with my P99AS, but now I am totally uninterested in this new model (since mags are no longer compatible with the P99 or original PPQ), and the original PPQs are impossible to find at a reasonable price.

Looks like a nice pistol!

I know the feeling about finding one's holy grail... I only discovered last week that there is a Steyr L9. Very nice. If I can get that with tritium sights, I'll be set. Knowing of course that after I find and puchase one, I'll have to discover my next holy grail.

I've never taken to the paddle release it may have to do with the fact that I never encountered one and actually shot one back in September which marked my 15 years of shooting so far.

I saw a PPX at my LGS the other day...price was under $500 I think. Looked a little like a Hi-Point...and double action only...Competition for the SIG P250 I suppose. I could never do DOA in a hammer gun. I do want a PPQ though

I bought the M2 PPQ last week and I love it. While I have several H&Ks I really like the M2 push button mag release. After all my years shooting, the button is more intuitive to me. The ergonomics and the trigger of the new M2 are terrific and the mag release is easily converted to the right. Sights are a breeze to change out and several makers provide nights for it. Once I tried out the trigger, I was sold. Now if magazine supplies would catch up, I'd be a very happy camper. The new M2 doesn't use the old PPQ mags so the wait is on. I did handle that PPX at the shop and I hated it for the "clunk invests" and high point looks. To each their own, I'm really pleased with the M2.
