For your first question, take a look at this picture.

It starts with the smallest and moves up. It only lacks the largest(and newest) frame, the X-frame.

Taurus doesn't use Smith and Wesson's frame designations. You could compare them to Smith and Wesson frames but I don't think Taurus has their own(public) designation for their frames.

Thanks feanaro...when i orderd a new holster, the and told of the make and model , i was asked ...is that a 'J' frame ...i wasent sure what to say because of the no designation size ...my reply was its a medium sized revolver ...(lack of knoledge ) i wish they would standardise a system where they would distinguishable by hight /legnth /weight , etc. or would that be to easy ?........thanks

Was wrong, Taurus does have frame sizes. Yours is a small frame. The 85 is also a small frame and I know that will fit in a Fobus J-frame holster, with a little work.

There is no standard frame size. Different makers use different labeling systems. For example the J-frame in a S&W is a small 5 shot revolver, but the J-frame in a Colt is a medium 6 shot revolver. YOu have to know about the maker you are talking about to know what the frame size represent.

OT musings - If I only had such a nice display, out of the lot I bet that C Frame is the most valuable. I wonder if its Supuica"s or Naha's or who's?

Unless of course it is a .22 6-shot model 63 or 34.

The frame sizes (J, K, L and so on) are designations for Smith & Wesson revolver frames. Although Taurus also has different size frames for different applications, they do not use such designations. However, your gun should be closely comparable in size to the Smith J (their smallest) frame.
