I had an uncle that passed away a few years ago and left me a shotgun that I know absolutely nothing about. I cannot find a model number on the gun anywhere. All is has on the gun is "Franchi (Brescia) made in Italy" The serial number is A52001. Does anyone know anything about these shotguns?? I have a Remington 1100 that I much prefer and am considering selling the Franchi. It does have one oddity (most likely operator error) in that when i have loaded the chamber and mag, there is no easy way to unload the rounds in the mag. On the 1100 it is very easy , but i cannot find an easy way, without using a screwdriver, to eject the shells. Any help and information will be appreciated.

Take the gun and put the butt on the floor. Touching only the barrel, push down on the gun. If the barrel moves it is a AL48.

As Earl said, it's probably an AL-48........ an EXCELLENT lightweight gun for upland hunting. I've got one in 20 gauge.

BTW, it's NOT operator error that you can't cycle the live shells through the chamber manually. The gun was designed that way. To unload the gun, remove the shell from the chamber then close the bolt. Then reach inside the magazine loading port in the bottom of the receiver and press in on the little latch on the right side (I believe) of the receiver. That releases the shells from the magazine. No screwdriver is needed. Do it with your finger.
