...Comes Gun Fit and Correct Basic Fundamentals of Mounting Gun to Face.

:)

One can use a First Aid Kit contents before shooting - to prevent needing a First Aid Kit after shooting.

If the gun does NOT fit- besides not hitting what pointed at, besides getting whacked, which leads to getting fatigued, which leads to flinching, which leads to getting whacked "worser" and harder- one can get hurt- meaning the First Aid Kit is going to get used.

Dryfire Rules of Gun Safety

Close eyes, and using the correct basic fundamentals of mounting gun to face, do this three times, and on the fourth, open eyes.

What do you see? If looking at the rear of recieiver, and not down the barrel/ rib...see that Self Stick Moleskin pad in the First Aid Kit? Put that onto comb and now repeat this drill. If you see right down the barrel/ rib- good to go.
If not add another pc.

You are getting close on the comb and cast.

When you go to replace these Dr. Scholls Moleskin pads, get a half dozen, replace those used in FAK, and the rest go into range bag.

Trick here is, once a "fit" is found, take gun in with moleskin, and whatever else, and show to a qualified gunsmith, that knows gun fit, to assist in using those "measurements" to fit your gun to you.

Ideally , it would be nice if everyone had a gunfitter, and had the monies to get a professional gun fitter to watch us shoot, have "try guns" and all .

New shooters, a bit overwhelmed with everything about guns safety and everything else - often get concerned about placement of finger off trigger, and where to put it? Use a small band aid on shotgun above trigger guard, onto receiver, not where it messes with function of gun.

Helps to alleviate some "overwhelming" and touching that band-aid is comforting to them, and instills safe handling. This can prevent having to use a FAK and more serious First Aid Measures.

Getting the gun into pocket. Couple of things here need consideration.

Ladies for one are built different. So getting gun fit to them with light loads is a must start with someone that knows how to assist a lady. Another lady is best, if a male, needs to be someone that understands ladies needs, and ladies trust. Being a male, I still like having a lady (ladies) to assist me, assisting a lady.

I have taken the Surgical Tape (silk) and used to smooth recoil pad edges , toes and heel.

Works for males, just I get real ticked off at folks that do not respect ladies and especially some considerations they need.

That shoulder pocket. For a new shooter, with a gun that fits , getting quality practice of correct basic fundamentals, mounting gun to face, using daily repetitions - is still a bit overwhelming. Ladies expecially are great about "quality" practice, not "quanity" practice.

We are instilling, as the brain and body remembers. So we need to teach brain and body - "correctly".

Stick a band-aid in the shoulder pocket. Real simple, and each time that buttstock comes back and into pocket, the person "knows" it is in the correct place.

Thumb placement, most of us keep shooting thumb on same side of trigger finger - NOT over the stock.
Even if we are not shooting a shorter LOP (lenghth of pull). Do the same thing each time, called "habit".

New shooters again - most times put a band-aid on that shooting hand thumb and "nuh -uh" they catch themselves wanting to put thumb over the stock. Kids, well heck, overwhelming as it can be, a tiny pc of moleskin on the stock/ receiver and that "bumb" reminds them too.

Advanced shooting. This is past learning to not bump nose with thumb, as the thumb is NOT over stock. One technique, goes by various names, still the idea is the buttstock goes under arm pit.

Scrunch that shooting hand to far forward, and you will whack fingers on Trigger Guard (TG)
Moleskin again is your friend. A small piece on back of TG will remind you to "oops, need to not scrunch too far forward".

Sharp edges.
Okay, ideally one checks to find any sharp areas and smooth beforehand on any firearm. One can miss areas, so another person will check. Pantyhose is idea for this, but most folks do not keep a pair of discarded panty hose in a FAK.

Guaze bandage works. [Kling]. Just cut a piece and as you would the panty hose, "drape" this lightly onto various areas of the shotgun (firearm), if it catches, double check for hard to find sharp areas , and use a knife, razor blade, emery board, whatever to smooth.

Sharp areas will show up in shooting, especially higher round counts and training classes.

Aches and pains. NSAIDS such as Advil work, as do Aspirin. Make sure a person is NOT allergic to NSAIDS. NSAIDS before shooting ( any activity) being an anti-inflammatory, assists with sore muscles and such.

I am allergic to NSAIDS.

Shooting gear: Eyes and Ears can benefit for checking for sharp areas, rubbing, fit and adjusted using items from FAK.
