I am new to guns and ARs and wanted to know if there were any good front night sights for my Ruger AR-15. Down the road I may get a Red Dot but now I want to stick with the iron sights. And how do you use/adjust a front sight which glows in the dark but only on one side? My first thought was that you might have to shoot a little high or low to be dead center but at shorter ranges, it may not be much of an issue.

There shouldn't be enough variation in point of impact in low light conditions to make any practical difference.

For self defense purposes it won't matter at all

As Snyper said, NO real world difference. You will have a much shorter depth on your field of view in dim light and "visible" targets will be much closer

Have you thought about mounting a white light on the rifle instead of night sights?

IME it is more important to identify your target friend or foe first, and with a bright enough light (Streamlight, Surefire, Etc) the night sights will be unnecessary since they will be visible to you when illuminating the target.

Just my .02,
LeonCarr

+1 on white light mounted.

Makes the irons easy to pick up.

I have a Surefire G2 (polymer case) on the side of my carbine and at 320 lumens it works great. Cost me $60 for the light and $30-ish for the mount.
