i got a front sight from mossberg to replace a broken one that was on a new barrel. i don't have thread locker but can get some if needed, i do have nail polish with hardener, would that work if needed? i guess what i'm asking do you use anything on your gun sights? this is the first sight i have had to put on a shotgun, the base of the broke one didn't seem to have anything on it as it came out easy. thanks for any help

Someone here recently suggested no thread locker, but I have always used Loctite 243 (commonly called blue Loctite) on things that I might want to disassemble. It still allows easy disassembly, but will not allow the part to vibrate loose.

I use purple or blue Loctite on sight adjustment screws that have a tendency to move on their own during firing, but usually red Loctite for screws that actually hold the sight to the gun.

A touch of finger nail polish will work just fine. Otherwise blue Loctite is most commonly used.
