I am currently working on a Spanish M1916 sporter project, and it needs a new front sight. I am keeping the original military stepped barrel, as it has plenty of rifling left and very little corrosion. Plus, I like the look of the stepped barrel.
Originally, I had planned to use a NECG Masterpiece banded ramp fitted just after the first barrel step. However, after measuring the barrel diameter (.6875" or 11/16"), I found that the closest NECG banded ramp has a .670" inside diameter, and the next size up is .689" inside diameter.

I was wondering if it was possible to expand the NECG band to fit the larger barrel diameter, or if anyone could suggest alternative front sight ramps (banded or otherwise) that will fit on a .687" diameter barrel? Right now all I can find is a Marble's ramp, which would be all right if nothing better could be found (cheap too!) Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I have included a rough diagram of the barrel profile.

I would call NEC and see if they can ream one to .687".

Pretty sure they can & will.

IMO: It would look a lot better with a high quality barrel band ramp like that if you had someone with a lathe cut off the small step and crown it.
