Yeppers, the MP5 can be some fun stuff. Our local PD has a Citizen's Police Academy, that includes a half day of firearms training and ends with a full auto, short-barreled MP5 wearing an EoTech + 30 rounds of 9mm.

Now that you've felt how hard it is to control, you can appreciate that the most impressive part in our class was when the SWAT team demo'd it and put the whole magazine in a 4 circle hole in one long burst!
 
Awesome video - living in Illinois we can only dream about full auto weapons - or, visit another state...
 
I was invited to MG shoot a couple years ago. Fired a Ruger 556 rifle and some sort of Mac looking thing in 45 ACP.

Yes, it's fun. But the guns are horribly expensive and feeding them can get real pricey real quick.

Also, it seems that full auto guns take more abuse and are more prone to breaking down. I saw a bunch of guns on the line that quit or needed tinkering.

The cost and effort makes owning an MG way out of my league.
 
wish i could shoot a full auto version of the mini-14. it's once or twice a year so it doesnt get too expensive.
 
dreamer56 we're in the same boat. Don't you love Illinois? You know what's crazy? Cops can't even have silencers. You know you live in an anti gun state when they restrict cops' guns.

Thats one sweet citizen's police academy. I don't think my local PD does that.
 
F/A is fun, but expensive at times. I just bought the wife a full auto MP5 for Christmas, and it is a hoot, i hate 9mm guns but this thing i really like. I have had a full auto 9mm Mac 10 for yrs and dont shoot it because....it just isnt any fun, thinkin about sellin it. of all the MG's i own, i prefer the M16 M4 with the ceiner .22 kit in it, its the funnest one i own. Wish i had a AM180.
 
alexd, trust me, this might be done as making cops and civilians equal in some other state, but here in Illinois the antis wanted to get rid of silencers period.
 
The first time I ever fired an UZI, all I could think was "wow, that was the most WWB 9MM I've used in 10 seconds.. ever!"
 
There's a guy at my rage who shows up once a week with a full auto UZI, and one time he said to me "You want to rip off a magazine?" Of course I said "Yes I do." Very fun. This guy and his nephew burn through $100's worth of 9mm every time.
 
I've been in the Military 20+ years and have shot a lot of US and Foreign full auto guns and it was fun, but I wouldn't want to feed one out of my pocket. (M16A1/A2, GAU/GUU-5, M4, M2, M60, M249, GAU-2, MP5, G3, AK-47/74, RPK)

IF I had the money to buy a FA I would try to find a M-16 lower and fit it with a reliable 22LR upper. 22LR would be the only thing I could afford to feed it.

Now that would be fun! You can spend $30 on ammo, and be able to shoot for a couple hours.
