SNL is very liberal, but I still watch it occasionally because it's usually good for a laugh. I was surprised at one of last nights skits about "The New York Times." The premise of the skit was that they were assembling a large group of reporters to go to Alaska to "dig up dirt" on Sarah Palin. All of the reporters were portrayed as elitist morons who knew nothing of life outside of NYC. Prior to their trip, the reporters were to receive training from an outside reporter who had previously worked in Anchorage (Jason Sudeikis). The trainer would hold up a picture and ask the other reporters what it was. One of the pictures was of a double barreled shotgun. Answers from the reporters included: a revolver, a semi-automatic assault rifle, a .357 magnum or "zip" gun. It was a pretty funny skit highlighting the stupidity of the elite media.

its probably fairly accurate too.

And it shows that more and more people are realizing that the media is clueless in reporting.

After all, a skit about something no one knows about isn't funny....

Of course, it is probably considered a badge of honor to not know the difference between a muzzleloader and a revolver among some cliques.

I saw it, and loved Bill Hader's self-assured response to the picture:
"What we're looking at here is a three-fifty-seven magnum, otherwise known as a 'zip gun' or 'Derringer.'"
Then Jason Sudeikis responds with this chuckle and says, "No. No this is a shotgun."

I saw it at a bar and so had no sound.

I could, however, read the epilogue afterward where the reporters were all killed by bears in humorous ways.

"so-and-so was ran over and killed by a snow machine that was driven by a polar bear" :D

I don't think SNL is ever very funny, but that got a laugh out of me.

That was the only funny thing on the show. It is unfortunately true. If you read the Times editorials on guns - they don't know squat. However, they do have articles that are positive on guns once in awhile - folks going out to shoot, etc. I don't know how those get by the editors.

I was reading a mystery and one of the characters pulled out his over and under pump shotgun.

Joe Piscopo and Eddie Murphy are cast members on this show, eh?

I love how they think EVERYTHING is an assault rifle.

"Barrack Obama supports tax cuts for pedophiles"--that was a funny skit too

I saw it and I have to give them kudos for nailing it about reporters - they kept calling the shotgun an "automatic assault weapon" and such - good job, SNL! :)

I think youtube has pulled the video. Probably due to copyright.

Of course, it is probably considered a badge of honor to not know the difference between a muzzleloader and a revolver among some cliques.

Only a fool would consider ignorance a badge of honor. But then I guess that I'm being redundant there.

youtube did that stupid copyright thing, so how can i watch this video? there has got to be another site that put this up and just doesnt care what nbc says about copyrights............anyone got a link?

Sounds interesting, but I can't find the video anywhere. Google just brings up a bunch of articles and blogs with people acting so offended about it.
Some just have no sense of humor

yeah and the only actual video is youtube or sites with link to same one on youtube.....seriously somebody has to have it
