Its strange the things that happen sometimes . I'm currently looking at thinning out my rifle collection. While there are a few that I really want to hang onto, I have come to the realization that I take my handguns out shooting about 20 times more often, and I am saving up for a down payment on a new house so I figured any extra $$$ I could get out of stuff I could part with would be money put to good use.
With that in mind - I was going through the collection and came across my SMLE No4 Mk1. It's a bit of a beater, but I always liked the look of it. Only thing was I tried a few times to get it to chamber a round it it never would go in. I stuck it aside and hadn't touched it in 5-6 years. I had it out today, figured "Hey - I've never even shot this - I probably can get rid of it". Not wanting to sell a non-functioning gun though, I looked into the cause of the problem. Turns out that the bolt head was turned out a full rotation when I bought it, which was causing it to bind up if there was a round present. Turned it in, picked up a test round, and viola - closed smooth as butter.
Thing is, now that its working I don't want to sell it anymore. I doubt that rifle would have ever been touched again if I hadn't thought of selling it though. Oh well. I can definitely let go of the sporterized No3 Mk1
