PRODUCT RECALL*



Olin Corporation, through its Winchester Division, is recalling three
(3) lots of its SUPREME® 7mm Remington Magnum 150 Grain BALLISTIC
SILVERTIP® (BST) centerfire rifle ammunition (Symbol Number SBST7).

*Lot Numbers (last four characters): VL82, VL92 and VM10*

Through extensive evaluation, Winchester has determined the above lots
of SUPREME® BALLISTIC SILVERTIP® ammunition may contain incorrect
propellant. Incorrect propellant in this ammunition may cause firearm
damage, rendering the firearm inoperable, and subject the shooter or
bystanders to a risk of personal injury when fired.

*DO NOT USE WINCHESTER® SUPREME® 7mm REMINGTON MAGNUM 150 GRAIN BALLISTIC
SILVERTIP® AMMUNITION THAT HAS A LOT NUMBER ENDING IN VL82, VL92 or
VM10. The ammunition Lot Number is ink stamped inside the right tuck
flap of the 20-round carton as shown here:*

To determine if your ammunition is subject to this notice, review the
Lot Number. If the last four characters of the Lot Number are VL82, VL92
or VM10, return the ammunition to Winchester via United Parcel Service
(UPS). Securely pack the ammunition into a corrugated cardboard box,
write “CARTRIDGES, SMALL ARMS ORM-D” on the outside, and ship to:

Winchester will send you coupons good for replacement ammunition from
your local Winchester dealer.

This notice applies only to SUPREME® 7mm Remington Magnum 150 Grain

in VL82, VL92 or VM10. Other Symbol Numbers or Lot Numbers are not
subject to this recall and should not be returned to Winchester.

Anyhow, I think that anyone who'd steal these from the mail would either A) shoot the cartridges or B) sell them to someone who will shoot the cartridges. Either way, the resultant death merely tosses some chlorine into the gene pool. And if they try to sue, they probably won't get anywhere since there's a $(*&^$ recall on the stuff!!!

About two months ago I had a bad batch of winchester T22 .22lr ammo. The cases would split all the way down to the rim on about every 7th or 8th round I fired. Tried it in 2 different guns. So I sent it back to Winchester and about a month later I got a letter from them telling me nothing was wrong with the ammo. Now I have shot probably 1 Million rounds of .22lr ammo since I was 12 (I'm now 45) and I heve never seen a .22lr split like this stuff did.

The gave me two $20 coupons good for winchester products only, this barely covered the cost of the ammo I sent them, and my local gunstore was less than thrilled that they would have to wait 6 weeks to collect on the coupons.

Lets say I was less than thrilled with their response.

Winchester recently recalled some .22mag ammunition as well.

I had ALOT of it. Costs me a pretty penny to ship it all.

What I got back in return........vouchers for DOUBLE what I sent them.

I made out great on that deal - about $80 to the good after shipping.

WalMart took the vouchers without issue, said they had been getting quite a few of them and knew how to take care of them.
