G19 or G26 for Concealed Carry

Bottom line you won't go wrong with either the G19 or G26 IMO.

Pretty much sums it up.

A carry gun is so personal that you don't need us to tell you what you need. Only you can answer that one.

That sums it up even more. I can't tell a difference with printing when wearing IWB and no difference in weight, yet others obviously can. Then again...I don't notice a weight difference when I carry a commander sized 1911, either. To each his own.

Congrats on getting the G19! If it fits you better than the G26, then you made the wise decision.

I used to own and carry a G19, now I own and carry a G26 (which I talk more about here).

Bottom line: with the GAP floorplates, I find the G26 to be more comfortable to carry (particularly when driving) while maintaining solid control of the weapon without using the pinkie extensions, and it points better for me as well.

I'd look at the Kel Tec PF9, if I were you. I great carry gun for a good price.

It seems as though, but I'm put off by the poor fit and finish every time I check on out.

I'm trying to make the same decision about what Glock to get for concealed
carry. The Glock 26 has a slightly smaller frame than the 19. Both guns weigh
about the same. I'll probably go with the 26 or 27 because I like to pocket
carry. Another thing I like about the 26 is that it accepts 15 round magazines.

Don't buy the g26 or 27 with the notion it makes a great pocket gun. Trust me it is too large for anything but maybe cargo pocket carry. If you want to pocket carry in your front pocket, like most people do, take my advise and get something thinner, lighter and smaller. The "pocket 9mm" was my red herring for a while until I finally gave up and got a truly pocketable .380 (ruger lcp).

Also, while the glock 26 will accept g19 magazines, I would suggest buying an adapter. It feels awkward when gripping the bear magazine sticking out of that abbreviated grip.

Consider the G26 as a replacement for the snubnose revolver back up gun.
The G19 is more of a general purpose pistol that can be used as a concealed carry or belt/duty gun.

Adding a magazine filler and you have 15 shots in the G26 using G19 magazines that carries well positioned high kidney or crossdraw.

I think the answer to the selection of the 26 or the 19 has more to do with the size of the person carrying it. Obviously, the taller the person the easier it would be to carry (concealed) the 19. I have both and am 5'10" and have no problem carrying either in a Milt Sparks IWB. I agree that putting an extension on the mag of the 26 effectively makes the case to carry the 19. Another great holster for either is the Blade-Tech IWB. Just my opinion.

I've carried both and trained people with 17s, 19s, and 26s for over 10 years. The 19 is the best all round Glock 9mm. The only size advantage a 26 has over a 19 for concealment is if you are trying to fit it in a specific size box. Many who shoot the 19 well have problems with the 26. Add the +2 extension to a 26 and you made the grip the same length as a 19 with 3 rds less and the same "concealability" problems.

I know a 4-10 85 pound agent who easily conceals a G17. She eventually went to a G19. Size, build, and weight are not issues with concealment. What you are williing to do to conceal well is.

The only two places a 26 works better than a 19 is appendix carry (shorter barrel) and carrying in an ankle holster (shorter grip and barrel). Neither makes it a deal maker in my book.

I previously owned the Glock 27 (.40 caliber version of the Glock 26). I ended up getting rid of it and getting a Glock 19 instead. Best decision I ever made.

I purchased my first Glock, a Gen 4 G19, just last night. After I brought it home, I thought it would be an interesting comparison to my Kahr CW40 (my primary carry gun). The two are amazingly similar in size given the additional capacity of the G19. Fully loaded, the G19 weighed 8 oz more than the CW40. Keep in mind, the G19 holds 16 rounds (one in the chamber) whereas the CW40 holds 7 (one in the chamber). Granted, the .40 caliber rounds are each slightly heavier than the 9mm rounds.

Width and barrel length are the two advantages the CW has over the G19. The barrel is, perhaps, 3/4" shorter and the slide and grip are perhaps 3/16" wider. This is based purely on a visual comparison of the two weapons.

Kahr lists the width of the CW40 at .94" on their website, a height of 4.62" with an overall length of 6.36". Glock lists the width of the G19 at 1.18", a height of 5" and the slide length at 6.85". In my visual comparison the height of the Glock seemed to be less than that of the Kahr (with the magazines inserted).

Now, I haven't had the opportunity to carry my G19 yet (still waiting on delivery of my CrossBreed holster) but it seems like a highly concealable handgun that should handle very much like a service-size pistol.

You hit the nail on the head there. That pretty much sums up the G19.
