Galco -- good stuff?

Can anybody offer any info in regards to Galco's quality & durability?

I found a nice belt holster for my SP101 this weekend, seemed to be well constructed, and the revolver fit great in it.

The holster was, however, fairly expensive so I'm trying to get some feedback before I drop the coin.
 
I have a Galco Speed Paddle for my SP101. It appears to be a high quality piece.

Good gear, but a little high priced for "off the rack" leather, IMO, rivaling that of the higher end custom makers, e.g., Milt Sparks. That said, I do like the Royal Guard (a horsehide IWB) and the Concealable (an OWB of unconventional but functional design), but shop various vendors for the best price.
 
Excellent quality. But I'll agree with the posting above. For a bit less money, I've had fantastic results with DeSantis and find their quality/price to be disproportionately excellent.
For a little more money, Mitch Rosen's "ReadyLine" is awesome.
 
I been packing my revolvers in Galco OWB holsters for many many years. I carried a S&W .357 640 in a Speed Master open top for about 6 years until I wore that J-Frame out from practicing with too many magnums. The Galco lasted FAR longer than the gun! I currently carry my SP101 in a FLETCH thumb snap. Galco is my #1 choice in gun leather. It's great stuff.
 
I have had a Galco FLETCH high ride for my Glock. I can't remember how much I paid for it, but I will echo that they are a bit overpriced. I have used mine quite a bit, and it has held up...simply put it is a good holster from a good manufacturer.
 
I have 2 Miami Classic II shoulder rigs. They seem well made for production line products. I didn't need to wait for them either. Bought them at Optics Planet,
 
I've used their Combat Master leather holster for both a Beretta 92FS and a 4" 1911. Great product. Stylish, comfortable to wear and easy to conceal with just a shirt hanging over it.
 
I have two Galco holsters, one for my Sig 229 and one for my Glock 27/23. They are great holsters, excellent quality. You can score them used on ebay once in a while, at a significant reduction in cost. As long as it was someone who just didn't like it versus wearing it out then selling it, you should be good. Going to post about their SkyOps holster here in a minute. I am interested in the comfort and how well it works with the total concealment concept.
 
I have a Miami Classic shoulder holster and would recomend the Galco line. It was pricy but the quality is very good and the fit is comfortable and after a little break in my XDM 3.8 fits very well. I'm sure there are other lines of holsters that will cost less but I am happy to have mine.
 
its worth the extra money!

i bought a galco belt holster for my m-43 firestar about 3 years ago.its been very durrable!and after over 3 years of everyday carry,it still holds its molded shape to my firestar.i recomend them HIGHLY!
 
The purists sniff at them, but used Galco's have been worth the price to me.

Kind of like a new car, I let their stuff take that "off-the-lot" depreciation.

Plenty of good deals around.

I don't carry professionally, so it doesn't get industrial use, just weekends and some evenings.
 
Galco is quality kit, even if it is "off the rack". I spent $80 or so on my Concealable a number of years ago. It has carry scars, but has not lost shape nor security in retaining my pistol. I expect it to last many years to come.

I spent $40 on my pocket horsehide. It has sweat marks, but has molded to the curve of my thigh, holds the revolver securely.

In both cases, I spent more than I really wanted to, but also in both cases, I got what I paid for - a rugged, durable holster that works very well, looks good, and lasts.

I do leatherwork myself, and bought these holsters because I needed them and wasn't set up to make my own when I needed them. I would probably have charged a comparable amount to make them for someone else, so I certainly don't begrudge paying what I did. It amortizes over time.
 
I have to echo the sentiments in regards to Galco's quality. I have been buying from them ever since Rick operated out of a small strip mall shop/office in Phoenix back in the late 1980s. Rick had always been great about coming out and saying hi, and just talking about carry and products. just an all-around good guy.

I still have a couple of the original holsters that I bought (one I carry my Ruger Mark III in) and they are still going strong.

All of my shoulder holsters are in use, and I wear them on a regular basis, and have never had any type of issues with any of their products.

A little pricey, but I feel I have definitely gotten high quality for what I paid. I miss being able to walk into the office/store now and buy directly.
