I shot my first Garand match last weekend, and sucked. Proper sucked. But it was expected. Anyway, I intend to practice some, but my M2 stash is low, and I will have to do most of my practicing with 22LR. I have a military 513T which is perfect for prone slow and standing slow fire. My problem is finding a semi-auto with a peep and post for practicing the rapid fire stage.

The only idea I have is getting Tech Sights for my 10/22, but I'm hoping there is a better solution. So, anybody got some ideas to share?
TIA,
RT

I think that the Tech sighted 10/22 is a valid option. Have seen on here a 10/22 that was fitted into a Garand stock. That would be best since it will give you the same size stock, hand hold and almost the same weight.

I use a ruger 10 22 in a hogue overmolded stock with Tech sites to practice for my M14's. The is a indoor range 1/2 mile from my city residense and I practice at least twice a week. This has greatly helped my shooting and experience with the peep site. This is the best thing I have done to improve my groups with my M14's.

The Tech Sites are quality and function perfectly and I get the exact same site pic as I do with the M14's. I installed the tech sites on 2 10 22's and they were almost dead on after mounting them. I have very little adjusting to do to get them perfect. 1000's of rounds later they still function perfectly. Use blue lock tite to mount both sites.

Thanks guys. I was hoping there was a nice 9 lb semi w/ peep and post that I wasn't aware of. :D Didn't figure.

Riss, any idea where that 10/22 was? I can't picture how it would fit in a Garand stock, but that's an excellent idea.

I guess I just need to go ahead and build that Liberty Training Rifle I've been thinking about. The distilled wisdom of years of Appleseed shoots is not something that I'm likely to improve on.
Thanks,

It doesnt need to be semit auto for practice. Just needs peep sights
The Mossberg 44 is what the Army used
Its a 7 shot mag bolt action 22,
CMP is out of them but should be a ble to find one fairly easy

I've got the Remington 513T which the military also used, but I'm looking for something to practice the rapid fire stage(s). That's what I really sucked on because I rushed it. I'd never shot timed before, and 70 seconds seems really fast, but I had time left over. Oops. Just need to practice my timing to help me relax on it.
