gas system help

I recently bought an rguns ttr 15 complete rifle from the local gun shop. I am pleased with my purchase but I would like to tweak this rifle with a mid length hand / fore guard. It currently had a moe hand guard in carbine length with a carbine length gas system (yhm flip up front sight gas block w. Bayonet lug) my question is would I be able to put a longer gas tube with a low profile gas block underneath a free floating handguard without changing the barrel or will I have to make due with having true carbine length gas system under a midlength freefloat?

You'll need a new barrel for a different length gas system, unless you wanna deal with drilling a new hole in the barrel and filling the old one.

Carbine gas with a low-pro gas block under a middy guard should work fine. Having a middy gas system with the handguard just gives you the option of a front sight gas block.

I'd say stick with the carbine system and just shave down or replace the gas block. It's cheaper.
But it's your gun, so do what you will.. and above all, enjoy it.

Depends on how long the barrel is and how much money you want to sink into the project.

If it's a 16" barrel you want to end up with I'd sell the carbine barrel and use that cash to buy a midlength gas barrel.

If it's a 14.5" you want I'd use a lo-pro gas block and run a handguard over it.

Rather than the expense of what you are doing go ahead and shoot the barrel out and then go with new as finding someone who can drill a gas port hole correctly (the right size/location/ without leaving residue inside the bore is gonna be hard to find. Then you have to align the hole in gas block with hole in barrel . Getting a new barrel will save you money / headache in the long run.
