Can someone give me info on car carry in Georgia without a permit? and can weapon be loaded? Thanks.

I found this info from the Georgia Statutes:

O.C.G.A. 20.4.1. Firearms License
The law does not permit, outside of a person's home, motor vehicle, or place of business, the concealed carrying of a pistol, revolver, or concealable firearm unless he/she has a valid pistol license issued under code section 16-11-129, and then the firearm must be in a holster, hipgrip or any other similar device; in which event the weapon may be concealed by a person's clothing, handbag, briefcase or other closed container.
Carrying on the person in a concealed manner other than as provided above is not permitted and constitutes the offense of carrying a concealed weapon.

The law does not forbid any person who is not ineligible for a firearms license from transporting a loaded firearm in any private passenger motor vehicle in an open manner or in the glove compartment console or similar compartment of the vehicle.

I have a friend who is a prosecutor in GA. My VA permit isn't recognized in GA. I asked him about carrying a loaded pistol in my glove box. He said "Yeah, you're good".

So that's about as straight from the horse's mouth as you can get.

The law you want is actually O.C.G.A. § 16-11-126
Having or carrying handguns, long guns, or other weapons; license requirement; exceptions for homes, motor vehicles, private property, and other locations and conditions
(a) Any person who is not prohibited by law from possessing a handgun or long gun may have or carry on his or her person a weapon or long gun on his or her property or inside his or her home, motor vehicle, or place of business without a valid weapons carry license.

So long as you are not prohibited, the method of carry is up to you, concealed or open, loaded or unloaded. However note that it only applies to the inside of your vehicle; step outside the vehicle with a loaded weapon and you risk running afoul of the law unless it is a self defense situation. Without a license one is restricted to 'transporting' a weapon- unloaded and encased (think of Big Brown delivering a package).

[edited to add:] I'm not sure where O.C.G.A. 20.4.1. comes from as Georgia has not used that numbering system for many years (if at all). I've run across mentions of it a few times and try to make a point of giving the correct citation whenever I run across it. ((Some places don't seem to like changing, such as Habersham County, GA which updated its website in 2015 but never corrected their information despite people repeatedly contacting them and giving them the exact information they needed. ))
