GCO filed a lawsuit against Coweta County, Georgia, recently. The county answered and claims that the preemption law, which states a county may not "regulate in any manner" the carrying and possession of firearms does not apply to its ordinance banning the carrying and possession of firearms in parks.

This has been ongoing for 6 months, and all of the letters, county attorney opinions, a newspaper story, and the lawsuit pleadings are available here.

sounds like they are going to try to argue the same as the other state in this supposed union that had the courts say the pre-emption didn't apply to their parks.

Georgiacarry.org sounds like an awesome organization. Hope you prevail with your lawsuit!

That was here in Ohio where "home rule" by cities is sacred. That has since been fixed by a state law that goes into effect in 13 days. :)

Georgia has had the state law for years and years, but Coweta County believes it does not apply to them. The law is quoted in the link in the original post.
