I have terrible vision. -7.25 in both eyes. But tomorrow, at 12:20PM, I am getting LASIK surgery :) And I'm going shooting with a battle buddy this weekend for the first time as a person without corrective lenses. Wish me luck, I'll tell you how it goes and how much different shooting is when I'm done.

Best of luck! I had mine done back in 2001. I had -8.25 in one eye, and-9.00 in the other. At my post op exam 15 minutes after surgery, my eyesight was 20/35. It was 20/20 within two weeks, and continued to sharpen for a few months after, finally settling out at 20/15. At the time, they were unable to correct for astigmatism, so I still have that, but it is very slight.
One of the best things about the surgery is being able to get up to use the toilet without fumbling for glasses. :D

I got LASIK over the summer. I started out -9.5 in both eyes, one full astigmatism in each eye.

I'm at about 20/20 now... still a few halos and such but they're getting better every day. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I'm glad that this thread came up. I'm far-sighted and need "Walgren's readers" for anything under 3' Unfortunately, the front and rear sights of almost all guns are at that range where they're a blur to me. With William's fibre optic sights it's better but still not great.
We were just debating if Lasix has proved itself enough to be relatively safe.

Sounds like there are a majority of satisfied patients on this thread..... or are those who didn't fare as well just being silent? Anyone had a bad experience? I know it happens as two of my neighbors have had less than stellar results several years ago.

So...what's Lasik typically cost these days, preferably not by one of these "fly-by-night" operations? The eyeglass solution is getting old, and I noticed my new insurance offers Lasik discounts this year...

While I myself am not so affected (I do use glasses, but only for close work like reading), I have maintained that if your vision is bad enough that you are unable to function without your glasses, put off the purchase of a few guns for a while and get the eye surgery. ;) With the technology available, by all means avail yourself of it. A time may come when your glasses are knocked off, broken or otherwise lost ... such as in the middle of a gunfight.
