I will be purchasing a Ruger Mark III Target, 6 7/8 slabside, in stainless steel soon and I want to get the most out of the pistol. I have seen a few scattered comments about triggers, grips and sights over the past few weeks. They are difficult to find now.

So...What upgrades would you recommend for this pistol to get the most out of it for target shooting and small game?

I would love to see pictures of your custom Rugers

Welcome to the High Road.

I have a Mk III 6-7/8" Hunter. The best thing I've done so far is dropping in the Volquartsen sear. Big, instant improvement in my shooting. I also installed a trigger with overtravel and pre-travel stops, but I son't think that helped too much.

Right now I would recomend getting some bulk high velocity ammo and a bottle of FP-10 oil, then shoot the heck out of the gun for a couple weeks before you sink too much money into it.

I had quite a few failures to fire with the cheap ammo, and a few other failures, but that's to be expected in a new rimfire.

After a couple thousand rounds mine runs almost flawlessly.

Sometimes I mount my Millet 1" red dot in Ironsighter see through rings for fun.

I bought a set of rubber grips, but quickly took them off.

I've got my eye on the Volquartsen rear sight, but they ain't cheap.

Have fun, shoot safe.
