Has anyone ever seen / held / fired / owned / currently own one of these mystical (or more likely mythical) Glock 18 / 18c's ?

I once held one at a gun shop in new hampshire who was also an indoor range and a class 3 dealer. It was one of the early models with the extened compansated barrel and it had a glock 32 round mag in it very cool gun indeed. sadly I diddn't get to fire it as the guy stopped renting it out on the range cause people were taking out celling tiles lol,I don't know how many are in the hands of citizens with a class 3 permit though I would think not many but I might be wrong there. I 've read about some glock 17's that were converted to a glock 18 by using a selector switch the same as the one on the glock 18. I do believe those were a class 2 dealer sample only deal although I may be wrong there also. does anyone here know of some glock 17's that were legaly converted and registered before the may (or was it april?) 1986 cut off let me know.

I visited a gunsmith with a manufacturer's license last year and shot a converted Glock 9mm. It was ported at the factory, so I think it was a 34. It's the only Glock I've fired that I really liked.

The gun was loud, but controllable with an educated trigger finger. I was able to shoot three or four round bursts without much of a probelm. I even managed to hit the bucket I was shooting at.

When the Glock 18 was first out, a cop brought one to Second Chance. I missed seeing it fired but talked to him afterward.
"Why don't you use it in one of the events?" sez I.
"Rises too much," sez he.

I have shot a couple. My most memorable one was during a trip to Austria to teach a class. One of our students arranged a tour of the Glock Factory at Deutsch Wagram outside of Vienna. We were met at the door by Robert Glock and he took us on a 2 hour tour of the factory. Afterwards he asked if we would like to go down to the range in the basement and shoot some of their guns. He asked what we would like to shoot and we replied the 18 and the 25 as the 25 we had never seen or shot and the 18 is self explanatory. :) Afterwards he signed and dated our targets and gave them to us. Unforgettable.

My dept. has a couple laying around;) They're fun toys...but in reality, not all that practical for LE use.
Best

I agree with my fellow TN LEO, However TN-popo, before we make any snap judgements, maybe you and I should take them out say with a thousand rounds or so and do a more thourough evaluation. :)

I've never shot (or even seen) one, but I once heard a tale about a cop who carried one.

He pulled it on a suspect and had an ND during which he put 8 rounds into the suspect in an upward line and several more rounds into a building behind him.

Anyone else hear that one???

Tracy, no problem. You and I have met a few times anyway...
(SPD...Jones usually can't be separated from an 18).
Take care.

Shot both. Rather just have 3-round burst.
Other than cover fire...not much use except to keep ammo co. happy.

Burned a few Mags

I've burned a few mags through one.....very fun....very impractical from my point of view.....but hey, sometimes its just about having fun:D
