Glock 19 G4 vs G5

I own a Glock 19 Gen 4. If I were buying one today, I would buy the Gen 5, because I detest the G 19 finger grooves and had to remove them, as well as undercut the trigger guard. But having made the modification, I would not trade my Gen 4 for a Gen 5. I don't care for the flared mag well or the cut out at the bottom of the front strap.

Depends on your hand size. I love the grooves on the 17 and 26 as they fit me perfect. The 19 is slightly different geometry and fits terribly for me.

17.4 and 19X are my go-to Glocks now.

This is precisely the problem. The Glock 19 and Glock 17 both have the same number of finger grooves, but the grip length on the 19 is significantly shorter so the troughs between the grooves are narrower. If your hand size and finger width are such that your fingers fit into those grooves, you probably will like them, or at least won't mind them. If not, you very likely will.

If you have size 10 feet, you will probably find size 10 shoes very comfortable, and size 11 shoes won't be too bad either. But try walking 5 miles in some size 9 shoes and see how you feel about them.

No. I doesn't depend on my hand size at all. I don't notice the finger grooves on my Glock 19 or 26.

I chose a g5 over the 4 because the rear sight aperture is wider allowing slightly more "light bars" on either side of the front post. And because the trigger was smoother for me. The finger grooves, the cut-out at the front of the grip, and the bull nose didn't make a difference in my hands. I still think the gen 3 is the best edition for me, though.

I think you really need to hold them and see which one feels better to me. One thing I always like about Glocks is how well they fit my hand. The finger grooves feel perfect, and I like them a lot.

However, I have friends that say they feel awkward, when they naturally grab the gun it points high for them, etc. Not everyone's hands are the same, so it really is a personal preference. I actually prefer the Gen 3 as I don't like the rough texture of the grips on the Gen 4 quite as much.
