Hi, everyone.

I have a question for you ballistics officionados...

The G29 barrel is about an inch shorter than the G20. When using full power 10mm loads like Double Tap, does the shorter barrel affect bullet performance to any significant degree--i.e. muzzle energy and velocity?

I wanted a G20 originally, but the frame was just too big for my short fingers.

Thanks.

It's not that drastic. Going from my 5" S&W 1006 to my 3.5" Witness Compact, I lose about 60 FPS.

And if the G20 is too big in the grip, so will be the 29. It's shorter, not slimmer.

Are you sure? I've handled both, and I did notice a difference. I could just get the tip of my index finger on the trigger of the G20. The G29 is chunky, but my trigger finger reaches the trigger just fine.

I think the issue is that the G29 grip is shorter than the G20. Therefore, the "hump" at the base of the grip is higher. I think that has the effect of adjusting the angle of the gun in my hand so the index finger is pushed forward.

Everyone's body mechanics are different, so I think that might be what is happening in my case.
