Glock 36 ?.

Im looking for input on the Glock 36 good or bad.
I heard early on people had Issues with the 36 as far as reliability is this still an on going problem?
How is the accuracy,concealabilty ect.
I own two types of pistols and shoot competition with both.
4 1911's and 3 Glocks but while Ive handeled the 36 and it felt good in my hand I have no real experience with it.

I carried various Glocks as an LEO (1989-2004) so I'm no stranger to them. I've been CCWing a G36 (OD frame) since early summer. I love the weight (lack of) and reliability but simply cannot get used to the way the gun 'feels' in my hand. I'm a diehard 1911 guy and will be getting rid of my G36 and going back to a 1911 for EDC.

My first encounter with a Glock 36 was several years ago at a gun show where you could fire manufacturer's guns. I didn't expect much from the little Glock, but being a fan of 45acp and the fact that I had the ammo with me and it didn't cost anything to try, I walked it back to the range. At the 7 yard line, I started drilling the center out of the target. Wait, what? The gun was to small and my hands were way to large. Reload and send a new target downrange - same result. So did I buy one? No, I thought I needed more ammunition capacity so I bought a Glock 30. Of course, I have never been able to shoot that gun well. So a year ago I finally bought a Glock 36. Got it out to the range and found the same satisfying accuracy as my first encounter. How accurate? I have few handguns including several other Glocks in various calibers and only my pricey Nighthawk Talon 45 can out shoot my Glock 36.

Get one, you won't be sorry.

I just purchased a Glock 36 last week to replace my Sig P220 and/or Taurus PT1911 for carry. I had a Kholster (crossbreed holster-look alike) for my old traded in Kel Tec PF9, that I molded to make the Glock fit. Now I carry it easily under a T shirt. It is so light, I forget that it's there. But at the same time, I feel comfortable carrying a .45.

It fits and feels very comfortable in my hand. At the range, at 7 yards, ragged holes were made. The kick is...OK, but manageable. It has more control, is more accurate and more comfortbale than my old Kel Tec PF9 and Taurus PT145.

I am coming up with a load for 185gr Hornady XTP. With a lighter bullet, the gun should shoot more comfortably.

I have one I bought new. Put a Pierce extension on it....it is a good gun...no complaints...I mean it is a Glock...sorta the white bread of semi auto's.....they go bang and hit where you point 'em so I have no complaints.

I purchased one ca 5 years ago.It has been reliable and accurate. Difficult to beat the G-36 for a 7 shot 45 ACP semi auto. It's significantly smaller than a 1911 and you do nothave to fuss with slide or grip safeties. I still keep it in the car but opted for pocket carry with a Kahr PM-9.

I've owned 2, one had a recoil spring break apart while shooting. The other was not reliable enough to use for defense. Not bashing, just my experience. YMMV. I've had other Glocks that were totally reliable (G26, G23). But I'll never buy another G36.

G 36 Is good to go, all in all, it is my favorite Glock. This pistol was not well recieved when it first hit the scene. It suffered as many "different" handguns do at the mercy of uninformed posters. It was a single stack Glock and not the usual double stack. So when a few early problems arose as most do in a new design, everyone including a good many folks that had never even touched one had a field day spilling garbage all over the internet about its shortcommings. Even with die hard Glock People, this gun was and occasionally still is, burned at the stake. Some people simply making up things, for whatever reason, just to trash the gun. It wasn't until recently that it has gained a cult following, and is widely accepted for what it is, a slim concealable, caplable, utterly reliable little 45 ACP. You will not go wrong with this little Glock.

Thanks guys,While Ive never had problems transittioning from the Glock to the 1911's Ive never had to do it under real stress.
Untill this last summer I only used my 1911 for carry purposes.
this summer I carried my G26 instead of my colt and shot Idpa and USPSA with my fullsize glocks,now its fall and Ive started
to carry my Colt again its got me thinking the what if's.
Not sweeping the safety could be fatal,thats the reason Im looking at the 36.

I have fired many "pocket" guns including the Taurus PT145, Kel Tec PF9, Ruger LCR and Ruger SR9c, but none have felt as solid and as accurate (the SR9c was very accurate also)as the G36. I have moved from one carry gun to another, but this looks like I will be keeping the G36 for a long time.

I came up with a hand load for the G36 with a 185g Hornady XTP bullet. It was very accurate at 7 yards. For a small and relatively light weight handgun, using a 185gr bullet seems better than using the 230gr bullet.
