I have just added a Glock 23 to the cabinet. First Glock I have ever owned, and I must say I am impressed. Lightweight, easy to conceal, and fun to shoot. Also a perfect fit for my hand. Can anyone give me some information on the LazerMax lazer sight. I like the all internal sight, but I am not sold on it yet. How about the plug? Does this make a big difference? I have been told that it is the first thing that should be added. Can anyone give me any info on these accessories?

Like you, I recently added a Glock 23 to my pistol collection.

I'm not sure about the accessories. I did add some Meprolight Night Sights, which I believe to be a good value as well as a defensive upgrade.

One of the guys in my gun club is a dedicated Glock shooter (and seems to be a good one at that), suggested that I consider some polishing of internal components as my next move. He said it would smooth up the trigger a bit.

All my Glocks have added either atht he factory or after are Night Sights, Plug, #3.5 trigger, except on my carry gun where the trigger pull is factory set. Night sights are a great addition, Plug IMHO is absolutely necessary I don't know why it's not a factory addition.

I have laser grips on my S&W 642 but don't like the CTC Glock Grips. I looked at the Lasermax and wasn't sold on them either. So...for now I just use the night sights. I may in the future get a railmounted light/laser combo but haven't seen a need for them either for now.

If you do get the lasermax please check back or start a thread so we can share in your experiences.

Congrats on the Glock 23 it's a great gun.

G23 owner here also! Stock, cocked and locked.

You don't really need a plug. It's really only for carry conditions, especially if you're in a dirty/dusty environment. To prevent the insides getting dirt/debris...but it'll still shoot no matter what.

Also, why do you need a laser?

The only accessories I need is a Surefire X200B with DG-11 pressure switch.

congrats on the new handgun and a great choice it is. i say for night sights you go with the xs 24/7 sights, i think they are the best sights that can be used on a handgun that is gonna fill the role of hd/sd etc.

on my glock i had the 3.5 # trigger, xs 24/7 ns's, exteded slide release which i found that is somthing that i really didn't like or need.

Congrats On Your New G23!

I put the "Butt Plug" in all three of our Glocks, as it costs next to nothing and simply gives a finished look to the gun. I got mine at GLOCKMEISTER.

Two of our Glocks--G19 & G21--have LaserMax installed, and I must say that we are well pleased with both of them. Ninety percent of the bad stuff you hear about LaserMax is a load of nonsense. We've got thousands of rounds on both of ours, and both still have all original components--battery caps, springs, levers, even batteries--from 11/2005 and 02/2006 purchases.

Still, LaserMax does turn out the occasional lemon (as does everybody), and I'd recommend exchanging this with the retailer immediately, instead of screwing around with it!

Here's a link to the best deals going on LaserMax:

Other options and accessories we're well pleased with include:

. Glock OEM Meprolight sights G21
. Trijicon Sights G19
. SureFire X200B G21
. Surefire X200A G19
. Glock 33-Round 9 mm Magazines G17 & G19
. Dawson Precision FO Front Adj Rear Target Sights G17
. Hogue Handall Grip G17

My G17 is a dedicated range gun...

Note: We tried the XSBD sights on Judy's G19, and she never took to them. Neither did my son. While they're great SHTF self-defense sights, they're not, for most people, very satisfying target/range sights.

Check out Lone Wolf Distributors for night sights:

Here's An Excellent Buy...

Right now, the most bang for the buck in a quality laser and light is the LaserMax Uni-Max combined with the TLR-1 Weapon Light! at Nightvision. Price includes shipping and six free batteries... Plus, if you're an NRA member, you can get a $25.00 rebate on the laser! That's a net cost of $268.00 for a quality laser and light!

as they are not meant to be but with the use of them making accurate hits at extended ranges is possible. do't sell yourself or your defense gear short by skippimg out on the xs sights ELDERBOOTS, try them out they are about the best investment you could add to a defensive handgun.

i don't understand what is so hard to "take to them" they are rather easy really put the looly pop on the stick and squezze that is all there is to it.

i don't know about you but anything that gives me an advntage over the bad guy the better, the quicker i can get solid accurate fight stopping hits on target the quicker the assaliant is gonna be dead. that is the goal of a defensive siuation that has been elevated to that level.

try them out an i don't mean pick up a gun with xs sights and shoot a mag or 2 with em, really get a feel for em and you will see that you are able to get on target faster and achieve accurate good hits faster than before. attend a trainning course with em and you will really get the hang f em and that wll show you even more why they are so awesome.

the xs are also great for shooting at moving targets, they are easy to track and come into play best when the target is moving horizontally, despite what people say somtime in a fight either you or the bad guy is gonna move, weather you go with the stand your ground and fight technique he is gonna move some way or another. and if he or she happens to be a highly disaplined bad guy or gal than that much better for you . but you still have the ability to shoot accuratly at moving targets if the need arises. it is like having a ccw in the first place better to "have it and not need it than need it and not have it" same goes for the ability to shoot movers, and the ability to get on target faster. no one has ever compalined that they stoped the bad guy in thier tracks to soon.

Regarding the XS Big Dot sights, let me explain a little further...

I was actually getting the hang of them, and could bull's-eye at 30-feet routinely. I was best off to start with them, as going back and forth between the XS' and traditional sights didn't work well for me.

As stated, they're great SHTF self-defense sights! Forget the rear sight--just place that Big Dot at center mass within 30-feet and shoot! You'll hit your perp!

Judy had the XS' on her G19 for six months, and the fact is, Judy's and Harry's shooting improved immediately with a swap to Trijicons. Harry routinely shoots all-tens targets with my Dawson Precision FO Adj sights--something he could never do with the XS'.

Different strokes, I guess... For all I know possum, your eyes are better than any of ours, and your shooting skills far superior! ;)

FWIW, they are well made with a pleasing night sight picture. What's more, they look cool on the gun!

I still have the set, and may yet put them on a carry gun, if WI ever wakes up and offers a CCW provision. Our Lefty Governor won't even sign legislation that prevents LEOs from seizing guns in a Katrina-like scenario! He is rabidly anti-gun!

I'd suggest a really good holster for a glock. You might not think of this as being an accessory, but a secure holster will facilitate safe carry.

Other than that, I did put night sights on my (carry) g19, but the rest is stock.

The rest of your money can be saved for ammo.

the 23 is my favorite pistol, setup as sd...meprolight ns's,their big ,fat, and bright.they also aquire pretty easily during the day.the insight technologies m6 is worth every penny.nothing else non o.e.m,the factory extended slide release and 3.5 connecter are good bets.just my .02
