Glock Generations

Hi all,

I know the differences betweent the first and third generation Glocks, but what about the second? What did the second have that the first didn't?

Smooth Grip, No finger grooves, No rails

Generation 2

Textured Grip , No finger grooves, No rails

Generation 3

Textured grips, Finger grooves, Accessory Rails


*I don't think there are accessory rails on the subcompacts

Aw crap. I don't want the stupid gadgets on it that can break and don't enforce good gun handling.

Are the 4th gens out yet?

The loaded chamber indicator is very similar to the Beretta. When the Glock is loaded, the extractor is not flush with the slide. The new Glocks extractor is not straight; it has a slight hump on the end so that when a round is in the chamber the hump sticks out ever so slightly. I think it is nicely done.

I still prefer a tactile chamber check....but if it saves just oooooooone life.... as long as it doens't raise the cost of the gat.

It shouldn't raise the cost. No new parts. I don't think it was designed to be a safety. Just a fast way to check to make sure one's in the chamber before you shoot. I guess you're making really, really, really sure your gun's got a round in the chamber.
