im going to buy a glock on their first responder deal and was looking at a 19 or a 23. The question is gen 3 or gen 4. I am left handed but have no problem working right handed weapons. 20 years in the army with m9s! the one big thing is i have a gen 3 advantage arms .22 conversion i got for a really really good deal. Is the gen 4 that much better to give that up?
Thanks
Scotty

If your .22 conversion will not work with a Gen4, then go Gen3. It will make little difference in 9mm, perhaps slightly more difference in .40.

Buy the G23 and get a couple of LWD barrels to go with it. Sell the 22 conversion and buy a Buckmark.

Have a glock 19, never a failure of any kinds whatsoever. Just keeps running and running, have used all kinds of ammo also.

I own a 17 and a 19 both gen 3's. Have not shot a gen 4 but heard from some LGS that they had some reliability issues. Can't confirm as I don't own one but I have been very happy with both of my 3rd gens.

If you have the option buy the gen3. Especially if you're sure the conversion will work with it. I have heard of issues with some early gen4's. But those seemed to be easily fixed and the current runs seem fine.

I recently bought a 26 and went with the Gen 3. There were reported reliability problems with the Gen 4 spring at the time and the advantages were probably most pronounced ith the .40 than the 9mm due to the difference in recoil. I think the spring issues have been resolved though, so it is probably more important to consider the grip, added magazine and cost difference.

Go with a Gen 3 Glock 23. It's a close tie between my Glock 23 & my Glock 27 which is my favorite.

I have the Glock 23 Lone Wolf 9MM conversion barrel and have fired tons of 9MM ammo through both guns using this barrel without malfunction (the barrel sticks out of the G27 a inch or so but works great).

Now that I load my ammo it's just collecting dust.

Either way you go, you're doing the best thing possible, you're purchasing a Glock. The Blue Label purchase special can not be beat. I love looking at the regular prices for Glocks at the stores and smiling knowing I paid nowhere near that price.

I would say go with either a 23 or 19 but go for Gen 4. I have always loved the feel of both those guns since I bought my first back in 1992. The only thing I have considered replacing my old G23 with is a new Gen 4 version. They feel even better in the hand than the old gun IMO. I have a Gen 4 G17 and have had absolutely no reliability issues.

Go with the G23 if you want a harder hitting bullet. Go with G19 if you want more rounds in the mag and cheaper ammo.
