After a quick glance at the new posts, it doesn't look like anybody has put this up. Apparently glocktalk got hacked. To keep the traffic down as they try to get back up, I'll post their message below.

The main thing to note is that the hacker(s) got their e-mail list...

Regards,

From www.glocktalk.com:

Hi folks. As many of you have no doubt noticed, something happened to Glock Talk last night. A hacker used an exploit of one of the scripts in the message board software I use and gained admin access to the site. I have very good log info on how he got in and what he did once he was in. I also have the ip number of the proxy server he used and the ip he used to connect to that proxy server. Once I get things cleaned up, I will do everything I can to prosecute the indivudal who did this.

Let me cover briefly what was compromised and what was NOT compromised. The hacker was able to exploit a problem with the message board software to gain access to that software, but he was not able to compromise the box itself. He planted some code in the site's templates, to attempt to place a trojan virus on the computers of people visiting this site. He also accessed the email address database and copied everyone's email addresses. I want to reassure everyone though that no compromise of anyone's personal info from the contests or from merchandise sales could have taken place. Those transactions occurred on a different server entirely and I do not record payment info at all. Pay Pal transactions take place on Pay Pal's servers and credit card trnasactions take place on my CC portal company's servers. No sensitive info is stored on my systems.

I sincerely apologize for my system being used to try to infect my readers' computers and I am sorry that everyone's email addresses were compromised. If you suspect your system might have been infect by the trojan worm that this hacker placed here and you do not have any virus protection, you can go to Norton's website, at: http://www.symantec.com/index.htm. They offer their antivirus software as shareware and they have many other tools for detecting and eliminating viruses, that they offer free-of-charge.

I run as secure an operation as I know how to and nothing like this has ever happened here before. I am taking steps now to prevent it from ever happening again.

The site will be down for a few hours, while I finish tracking down and eliminating the changes the hacker made. I also intend to upgrade to the most current version of the message board software used here. The site should be back up by 6:00pm, 21 April, 2004. Thanks. Eric

So this explains why my IP address has been banned from GT.

Hackers need to be added to the chapter on personality disorders in psychiatric textbooks.

That sucks hind t*t!

I'm am now glad I never accessed that site. However, I will in the future because it will likely be as secure as resonably possible and, that's one of best written notices to members I've seen.
