After reading the thread about the EPA wanting to ban lead wheelweights, I remembered seeing that Hornady has jumped on the lead-free bullet bandwagon. I'm not surprised they've been experimenting with it, it's coming, a time where there will be NO lead IN bullets. With king Hussein in office, it may be within the next 4 years.

But here's the rest of the story. Copper is also toxic! You don't think the EPA knows this???¿ After the ammo companies do an expensive change over to all copper projectiles, they'll say oh, you can't use copper either!

Then what? will zinc work? Isn't it also toxic?

It's back door gun control, people! The ammo will be so expensive we could be priced out of existence. I hedge on the day that I can no longer buy lead bullets, by casting my own. But where would I shoot them? You'll see a ban on use for hunting. Then a ban on using them on a public range, then gun clubs.

When lead was banned for use for waterfowl, The shooting public said; so what? I don't own or shoot a shotgun, and certainly don't hunt ducks, so who cares? When they announced they wanted to ban lead for use in Californicate, for the poor buzzards, oops, I meant condors, most said who cares? Now I hear it's going state wide. The governator doesn't hunt, and has never fired a real gun in his life, he'll sign it!

So thats why I have been collecting lead since I was 14. I always had a feeling. It good to know I wasn't really crazy all that time.

Just about all metals are toxic in high enough levels. Zinc is just less toxic than lead. Copper is toxic too, its just less likey to oxidize and become absorbable.
