I'm always looking for ways of going even slower. :D

I have Swedish Mauser stripper clips that work okay for loading, though you can't just close the bolt with the empty strip in place; you have to pull the stripper out of the receiver and drop it, then close the bolt. On my 1903 I can just close the bolt and it throws the clip free.

Difficulty level: I'm strongly left-eye dominant and shoot long guns lefty. :banghead:

So I'm wondering if I should try righty for closer-up stuff and basically point shoot, and then switch to lefty if I actually want to try to hit anything on the longer stages.

I don't have an appropriate bayonet, unfortunately.:p

Ideas for carrying ammo? I usually run a Garand and clip the en-blocks along the front of my button-up canvas shirt, which makes for relatively quick reloads. Obviously that won't work with stripper clips. I have a shotgun pouch that I guess I'll try. Or I could try wearing my tactical upland game vest and fish strippers out of the front pockets. LOL

supposed to rain and be muddy as well... should be a hoot.

Swedish Mauser stripper clips aren't even close to real .303 Brit chargers($2.45 each at Gunparts). They should slide onto a button though. Even though you risk losing 'em as you frolic in the mud.
You really need an M1 ammo belt. Holds 2 5 round stripper clips per pouch. Total of 50 rounds.
Just drop the rifle down to cycle the bolt. You check the headspace?

Lots of fun. Tried it right and left and running bolt with either hand. Shooting lefty and running bolt lefty seemed to work Best. Couldn't hit any long steel but I rarely can. Rain wasn't too bad. My reloads with hornady and berry's FMJ ran great, but ZQ1 Locked up and didn't want to extract.

Video for any interested.

Did okay with shotgun and pistol, but I had a hard time hitting anything with the Ishapore 2A1 (SMLE pattern in 7.62 NATO). I followed my usual practice of not sighting in my rifle before a match. Plus I didn't really practice loading, and had a couple problems using the Swedish Mauser strippers (couple double feed jams from partial loading/stripping, couple failed loads).

Placed 52nd out of 54. LOL

Beat 2 poodle shooters, though. :D

Lots of fun. My hands were pretty beat up by day's end.

Hey you could have DNF or worse yet placed 55th! We all learn a lot by erring at times.

I've found of all bolt actions for right handers the straight handles are the easiest to work left handed. I found the sights on my K-Kale Turk were not hard to use.

No difference... just a nickname versus descriptive. Looks like a pyramid to me... but it's referred to as the barley corn sight. No idea why... :)
