Have a few days in Vegas coming up, looking to get some shooting or at least window shopping in while there - any recommendations?

Sven-
Check out The Gun Store you can shoot full auto MP5s, Uzis, Macs and Tommy Guns. Its one heck of a hoot at 50 bucks for 2 mags.

Have a great time in Vegas. I'll post some pictures of the Battlerifles meet for yah. :) Maybe some video if I can.

If you want to have a very good laugh, you also can attend the gun-show this weekend at Cashman-Field (25. - 26.)

It is expensive ($ 12 admittance, $ 3 parking), but you get more laughs than attending a Las Vegas comedy show for $ 25 (The Scintas are very good!).

I went to the Gun Store Video Range. It was $30 for pistol, ammo, and time spent being the junior partner in various police scenarios. I think there were 10 scenarios that required you to watch for bad guys and shoot them. Very interesting.

check the racks of brochures at the check in desk at the smaller hotels and motels... they usually have coupons. I found one and shot 2 mags in a MP5 for about 15 bucks at The Gunstore in June...

i dont know if you mean go to the gun show for laughs being sarcastic or not... more likely tears than laughter... the big Reno shows are good for laughs only if you're a PRK serf otherwise lotsa neat stuff you only wish you could buy.. never went to a gun show in Vegas

ahhh,

Well,
The Gunstore is OK...but in shooting fullauto, the 'range master' loads it and unloads it for you...you just get to shoot it. Probably because of all the non shooting tourists that come there from all over the world to fulfill a fantasy. The guys behind the counter must have daily injections of testesterone...they be packing multiple guns, tons of ammo and swagger when they walk about...the CCW and Security class there, on the other hand is top notch! Lets see: last I was there..they had an M16, Valmet 223, Sten, Greasegun, Thompson, Madsen 1950, MP5(of course), wood stocked UZI, and a MP-40.
American Shooter's is a nicer range and they have a broader assortment of handguns and some different Subguns( an you say UMP .45 AND .40!!!), ANd you get the gun and head to the range...no supervisory stuff. BUT their ammo is not cheap, so hit the nearby Wally Worlds for a couple of value packs of whatever you wanna shoot. You will buy the initial 50 rounds, but they do not keep tabs on how much you shoot! They also have a rifle range for the M16, M1A Squad Scout andother various goodies.
Bill's on Freemont has a nice selction..at reasonable prices and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly...but no range.
Discount firearms as good prices and selection. I never shot at their range.
Center Mass is way south in Henderson...but it is a IDPA, SWAT kinda place. They have a thing for HK's and AR's......fair prices. I drooled at the USP Tactical .45 with Suppressor for sale!!(and I am not really a USP guy).
I AM going to the gunshow this weekend....maybe laugh, maybe cry, but I will fur shure get my fingerprints on a few impliments, drool a tad, and look for a few select goodies to add to the shooting bag(including a bigger bag! Starting to need one with wheels!!).
Have fun on your trip...ah, Vegas honor no other CCW...you can take a class as a non resident, but it takes four months to get it! And it is serial number and caliber specific, so you have to bring your own heater(s). Has to be registered in Clark County too.

PS: Nevada Revised Statute 202.350 states that as long as the knife is not concealed(i.e clipped to the pocket/carried openly) there is NO maximum blade length. Though a Katana would probably get you stopped by Metro!

well, that's a change from 3yrs ago. Checked the MP5 at the counter, stack up the goods, and took care of it myself.
Are they now doing this with ALL customers, or just some that need help?

Reno does a better show than Las Vegas, but I like Wallace Beinfeld's shows... more money laying on the tables, lotsa antiques and collectibles, no jerky allowed. His Februaury shows were his larger shows with planty of bladesmiths but no the LV Kinfe Classic seems to have taken on a life of its own. Its usually held in late Jan or early Feb.

Adios

The Gun Store is ok, but it gets awful crowded with tourists on weekends. American Shooter's Supply plain sucks and it way more expensive on everything than the Gun Store. Also, American wants CCW's and off-duty LEO's to unload their guns. Screw them, I won't shoot there again.

Discount Firearms is good but way out there, and the best prices of anyone - they're also closed Sundays now. The Gun Store is probably your best bet, as long as you don't mind being helped by a guy with 2 full size Glocks and 4 spare hi-cap spare mags. :) I took my CCW class there.

Discount Firearms and The Gun Store

Discount Firearms may be off the beaten path for tourists, but it is only a couple of miles from me. I shall have to stop in there some time. Before moving to Nevada, I came up a couple of times to shoot submachine guns at The Gun Store. Their CCW classes are very reasonable ($70, including qualifying with two guns); I will be taking one in a few months. While not necessarily cheap (and they do not have a range), I saw a very large selection of rifles and shotguns (not a lot of handguns) at Galyan's in the Henderson Galleria mall.

Better hurry to Discount - he's moving the store over to Highland in Vegas. Closer to me, anyway - and the owner who lives up in my area, way up in the northwest of Vegas. :D

Rayra.....

Last I saw Gunstore was escorting all Fullauto in a supervisory kinda way. They were doing it for nearly everyone that was there when I was anyway.
I had to try out the Greasegun...it was fun, and I got 100 rds for 50-60 bucks. Need to try the woodstocked Uzi and MP-40(just for the experience) next! They then just has to go add a Valmet too, dang, that means I gotta renew my acquaintence with my favorite AK!
Stay away on weekends! CCW classes having breaks and qualifcations get the place real crowded, not to mention the tourists. Alot from Europe,(taking pictures and digital video) that have little of NO experience with firearms.(Last time I saw one renting a long barreled Redhawk mighty magnum! Wonder who he has been watching on TV?).
Oh the video range? Well some days it works, some days it does not. You have to use their revolver and it is highly supervised...apparently. It was broke when I went in and after watching it on another trip...I lost interest.
