I just picked up a CAI Golani Rifle and had a question on it. The bolt when it goes into battery is pretty hard to retract. I see in the magwell the bolt turning and lugs going into place. But the carrier moves forward another 1/4 inch or so and takes some pull to get it back.

Just wondering if this normal or something needs some breaking in or polishing.

I realize this is a Century gun, so may need some fine tuning.

Well, there's good news and bad news.

Bad news is: you may have a crap receiver with lug issues.

Good news is: you can return it to Century if this is so.

You can search "golani" here and find out more about this wonderful rifle (and it's potential issues).

I have owned two of them. Is it new? Have you shot it? If so how does it cycle?
It may need to be shot some if its new just to break it in. As I recall they were pretty stiff when cycling the bolt.
Hope you get the bugs worked out. Personally I think the receivers are flawed. But ymmv.

Its new and i have not fired it yet. Probally try it out in the next couple of days.

Just wondering is there is something wrong and needs to go back. The lugs seems to lock up fine. But the last little bit of the bolt carried going foward is really stiff.

Oil it well and work the action. At your earliest opportunity put about 200 rounds through. That should help. And above all have fun!

You can buy some lapping compound and hand lap the lugs. It is available in automotive stores as valve lapping compound, usually comes in a mini-toothpaste tube or a small vaseline type tub. Cost is around $6-15 depending upon the size of the container.

I had to do that on my PSL (larger AK action) bolt lugs. I put the compound on the bolt lugs and worked the bolt about 75-100 times over and over.

I cleaned out the compound, relubed the bolt and carrier and the action was ALOT smoother.

Update. Went out and put around 50 rounds through it today. No malfunctions at all. Shot low and to the right, going to adjust the front sight when i clean it.
