I just purchased some Speer Gold Dot 165 JHP which worked flawlessly in my Sig P229. Their customer service might be crap, but their higher end bullets are nice (their lowest end bullets are awful). They are also very clean, as I didn't have to clean much after shooting 100 rounds.

WWB JHP works well for homedefense, and for seeing how well your gun will handle JHP. for carry I would go with something higher end, silvertips, golddots, lawman, hydrashocks, and such. we'll get an endless debate over which is best, but, finding one that runs 100% in your peice is the really important part.

After some extensive testing, Speer Gold Dots received pretty good marks here.
I went with the 180 gr. GDHP for my SIG P226. I'm looking now at a bulk buy of some practice ammo that's pretty much the same stuff, just 40 fps slower.

Winchester Ranger, 155Gr HPs.

That's what LE carry and I think that's good enough for me. :D

The minor differences in bullet performance are overwhelmed by errors in bullet placement. Choose something you can afford to practice with enough to be sure you can place the bullet where it needs to be.

Ranger-T, Gold Dot, HST, Golden Saber, whatever, I stock up when its on sale, and worry a lot more about my skill in placing it on the target than which bullet it is. No magic bullets for me. I want to have shot any carry ammo enough to be sure they are reliable in my gun and my POA/POI is correct.

Unless the price is really outstandingly good, I buy the heaviest bullet for the caliber -- 147gr in 9mm, 180gr in .40S&W, and 230gr in .45ACP.

I've done numerous polls on numerous gun boards and the hands down winner every time by popularity goes to anything shooting Gold Dot bullets. I shoot 165 gr Double Tap loaded with Gold Dots bullets.
