good crossbow

my bud's thinking about dabbling in the crossbow arena. since he has a bum eye (his dominate one) and cant pull back a bow with his non-dom hand he can get a waver to hunt with a crossbow.

anyhow, good brands? ones to stay away from?

Tell him to look at the Excaliber crossbows, their not the compound type, but are the best on the market, go to their site for a look see

I'm pretty sure he wants a compound type, as unstringing the bow would be a giant pain in the ??? for him.

anyone used the TENPOINT TITAN II?

it's TENPOINT's entry level crossbow (about $299, $399 with accessory package)

Tenpoint is a good company from what i understand, but i'm always weary of buying "entry level" stuff... especially when i am "in charge" of recommending one to my bud.

TenPoint brand? definitly want a compound.

I've used a couple different barnetts --good for the $.

Make sure you get the wax for the rails and have your nock
wrapped in kevlar fiber by a competent bow-smith.

also looking at the Buckmaster Maxpoint (made by Bear i hear) theres a fella on this site who raves over it. and it throws a bolt at about 340 fps.
