I got this rifle yesterday and have spent hours since then to trying to replace the retractable stock that came on the rifle with a standard wood butt. To do so I had to replace a metal part on the recoil rod with a plastic spacer from Loew's which I laboriously drilled and sanded to fit. Once I had the part right, I headed for the range with three different types of G3/Cetme mags: steel G3, alumI inum G3, and steel Cetme. I started off using the wood stock I bought at the gun show Saturday. Every round fired from all three mags--no jams. Then I reinstalled the HK retractable stock and quickly found that it is every bit as bad as people have said. Unless I can make it more comfortable, I will sell it. Reinstalling the wood stock, which also is not that great for a shooter, I bent the recoil rod, but the rifle still worked! I still prefer my FALs but am delighted that this Century Cetme with stamped receiver functions as it should.

+1 on the FAL's (L1A1 in my case). I bought a CETME and an L1A1 at the same time a few years ago. Descided on keeping (and ultimately building another L1A1) so I sold the CETME. The race was close though. Had I not bought the L1, I would have probably kept the CETME. They are nice shooters.
