Does anyone have a recommendation on which ranges around here to check out? I'd be going often enough that Springfield Armory would be a bit expensive, not to mention the lack of proper rifle facilities.

I've found a few different ranges, the most interesting being Somers Sportsmen. Does anyone here belong to this range?

Blue Trail in Wallingford

The biggest range in the state is Blue Trail in Wallingford, but it's down a ways from Enfield. There is a club up apparently north of Berlin which might be closer to you, I can't remember the name but it was a hotlink from another THR member I will check my data and see if I can find it.

metacon in trouble

Hi, I think Metacon is in trouble with its neighbors. I'm not positive but I seem to remember a guy at my club saying that they had 3 special assesments already to pay legal fees. There was a thread here about it also I think.

There is an awesome club called the east hartford gun club or the hartford gun club I'm not sure which. It is out by the airport. It is a neat place 6 or 8 skeet/trap fields, a pistol house, a 25 yard outdoor range and a 200 yard rifle range. The is a pro and proshop. Unfortunately it costs 500 bucks a year with a 1000 initiation fee payable over 3 years. Still if it was closer to me I would take a serious look at it.

I grew up in Somers. I've heard it is a nice club. If you run into the Besses say Hi!

My family belonged to the East Windosr Sportsman's Club (my father was #34). It's about 15 minutes from Hazardville. I haven't been there in a long long time. They had trap, a 200 yard range, and a 50 yard bullseye range with turning targets. At the time they had no USPSA style pits, but it's been 15 years since I've been there. If you join there, say hi to Mr. Waterman, Rodney Wells, and Greg Bieksha for me.

I belong to East Windsor Sportsmans Club. Good club, probably the closest for what you're looking for. Last I heard it was $85 per year for non working members. People who have time to donate can get cheaper dues. They just built a BEAUTIFUL new pistol port there. I'm not familiar with the Somers club. Metacon HAS been involved with various attempts to shut it down and HAS had to assess it's members to help cover legal fees. Not sure if the fight is over. Welcome to CT...

If you're interested there is an inddor range in Manchester "Metropolitan Shooters Inc" (MSI) it's pistol and .22 rifle only. No jacketed rounds. Lead and plated only and nothing over 1000FPS (no Magnums). I'm RO there Monday evenings 5:30 to 7:30 and you are welcome to shoot there as my guest the first couple times if you'd like to check it out. 281 Garden Grove St. They have various options for membership and a VERY active Bullseye schedule.

See if this link works I found it on "wheretoshoot"
