I am looking for some info on the best value rounds for target shooting/ plinking with my rifles which are chambered in 30-06 spr and 30-30.

I usually use a box of the core lokt remingtons for the 06, and winchester 30-30 winchester for the other gun...(I haven't shot these guns in about 4 years when I got them from my grandpa)

From what I have seen it just looks like the difference between most the rounds and brands is the grain load, and they are pretty much all for hunting???

Am I missing an inexpensive plinking round brand with decent powder load out there??

Thanks for the help

You're right the only difference is really brand name and grain if you are target shooting. For the 30-30 get any grain the 30-30 doesn't kick, and for the 30-06 get 150 gr bullets. I've never seen a cheap plinking round for a rifle. Yes, you can use all the bullets for hunting.

Wal-Mart sells Federal Blue Box (Power Shok) for relatively inexpensive prices. I use it for cannon fodder and then reload the brass.

IF you reload, Speer sells 100 gr. 'Plinker' and 110 gr. 'Varmint' bullets for the 30--06. Otherwise, you're probably going to want to hunt high and low for surplus ammo being sold by wholesalers.

Look on the CMP website. (i think its www.thecmp.org) They might have the best deal going for cheap milsurp .30-06. I think right now it's something like $80 for 240 rounds. If you live within driving distance of their Alabama or Ohio locations, you can pick it up in person. Otherwise you're looking at a 100 day wait.
